surprise, it's a giveaway!

Giving gifts may not be my forte nor my love language, but I do indeed like making people happy, and who doesn't love free stuff?  So let's talk about that.

In celebration of dear lil UO being three whole years old today, I wanted to have a little giveaway.  You lovely people who have made updating this space of mine worth it are so very special to me--I've made true friends and been encouraged by many of you in ways you probably don't even realize.  Major thanks and big hugs to you all, and let's get on with it!

I have for you two things, both of which I got during my travels (from Nashville, I believe) during the summer.  One lucky person will win them both!

One is this darling satiny turquoise clutch (this is pretty much my favorite color, guys).

And the other is a set of three rings (giraffe, rhino, elephant) that wow it is hard for me to give these away because they are so adorable.

So yes look how lovely, I might just enter my own giveaway anonymously, wouldn't that be nice?  Here's how to enter!

mandatory:
> follow UO
and
> comment to tell me your current favorite song
(one entry/comment)

extra optional entries!
> follow me on twitter
> tweet with a link to this post (tag me @jennoelle3341)
> follow me on instagram
> follow me on tumblr
> follow me on bloglovin
> share on facebook with a link to this post
> comment to tell me your favorite kind of posts/things you like seeing on UO
> comment with a link to your favorite poem
(leave a comment for each thing you do)

Wow this feels so narcissistic, I'm actually rather uncomfortable.  Ahem, yes yes, see it's all very selfish, you get free things but I get followers on all my social media--and mostly importantly, lovely poetry and music (because gee whiz I love poetry and music).

And there you are, folks!  The giveaway will close on December 14th, and I shall contact the winner of these two lovely items shortly afterward.  (So make sure I have a way to get a hold of you!  If I can't find your email on your blog, leave that in your initial comment.)  I will ship internationally.  So excited for this already.  Good luck, m'dears!

  36. "Location, Location, Location"
    by Gabriel Gadfly

    I could have kissed you
    under cherry blossoms,
    pale petals drifting down
    like the trees wanted to
    pretend they could be
    snowclouds.

    I could have kissed you
    in the rain, drenched to
    our bones and not even
    caring that the skies
    opened up above us
and tried to wash us out.

    I could have kissed you
in a clearing in the most
    secluded woods, with
    just the sound of wind
    rustling through the leaves
    and a few voyeuristic
    finches peeping at us.

    Instead, I kissed you
in the parking lot of a
    Waffle House, just shy
of 2 a.m. in the middle
    of a hectic week, with
    our waitress grinning
    at us from the other
    side of the window,
    because, honestly,
    how could I not?

  43. My favorite poem of all time would be:

"Hope" is the thing with feathers by Emily Dickinson

"Hope" is the thing with feathers—
    That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
    And never stops—at all—

    And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—
And sore must be the storm—
That could abash the little Bird
    That kept so many warm—

I've heard it in the chillest land—
    And on the strangest Sea—
    Yet, never, in Extremity,
    It asked a crumb—of Me.

  76. Favorite posts... I love your honesty. You write with a style that makes you sound human - that may sound strange, but some bloggers write as if they are nearly perfect, and their lives are nearly perfect. You post about the things you enjoy, and the things you dread. Things that make you happy, and things that make you sad. Things you are glad about, and things you regret. Your hopes and your fears. I loved your 'On Being Nineteen' post. Honesty. And your faith in the Lord. You don't push it, but you make it real, because it's part of who you are. I love that.
And your photography. I love your photography!
So, I'd say, keep doing what you're doing here! And thanks :)

    Soli Deo Gloria!

  77. One of my favorite poems is "I Have Not Lived In Vain":

"If I can be a servant
    along life's dusty road,
    Or ease a heavy burden,
    or share a traveler's load,
If I have loved the friendless
    or soothed a burning pain,
My life has not been wasted,
And I have not lived in vain.

If I have caused one face to smile
    where once was only tears,
Or lifted up a heavy heart
    burdened down by mirthless years,
If I can to a desert soul
be a cool and lovely rain,
Then my life has not been wasted,
And I have not lived in vain.

If I can to a sad heart bring
the hope of joy and peace,
Or from the wicked sin-stained chains
    a prisoner release,
If I can to a searching soul
make the path to Heaven plain,
My life will not be wasted,
And I have not lived in vain.

If maybe to a dreamer's heart
    a companion I can be,
And maybe share with them a sight
    that only dreamers see,
Or if I can catch a falling star-
set it in the sky again-
Then my life has not been wasted,
And I have not lived in vain.

If I look back at what I've done
    all through the years,
And think of one place, along the road,
where I've helped to lessen tears
Or I see the footprints of a soul
who I've helped the Way to gain,
My life has not been wasted,
And I HAVE NOT LIVED IN VAIN!"

    -Anon.

    S.D.G.!
